RJ45 Network Interface
Dec 20, 2018

The 10/100 Base TX RJ45 interface is a common Ethernet interface that supports 10 gigabit and 100 Gigabit Adaptive network connection speeds, and there are two types of common RJ45 interfaces: DTE types for Ethernet network cards, router Ethernet interfaces, etc., and DCE types for switches, etc. DTE we can call it a "Data terminal device," DCE we can call "data communication devices." In a sense, DTE devices are called "active communication Devices," and DCE devices are called "passive communication devices." When two types of devices connect to communicate using the RJ45 interface, cross-line connections must be used.

This can be illustrated by the following RJ45 DTE type PIN definitions and RJ45 DCE type PIN definitions:

As we can see from the figure above, if the two DTE type interfaces (or DCE type interfaces) are connected without cross-connected pins, the pins on the touch are data receive (send) pins, which are bound to fail to communicate. Also need to explain: some DCE type devices will automatically negotiate with the end, at which point the connection with crossover lines or parallel lines can be.
